Diphu is prepared for the 50th Karbi Youth Festival scheduled to take place from January 12 to 19 January, 2024, at the Karbi People’s Hall in Taralangso, Diphu, located in the Karbi Anglong district. President Droupadi Murmu will attend as Chief Guest at the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Karbi Youth Festival 2024 on January 17, 2024. I attended the 48th Karbi Youth Festival along with my two kids, and it was truly a memorable experience. Nestled in the heart of Assam, the Karbi Youth Festival stands as a vibrant testament to the rich cultural tapestry of the region.

Held annually in the enchanting district of Karbi Anglong, this festival brings together the dynamic spirit of Karbi youth, showcasing their traditions, arts, and a profound sense of community. Grounded in the cultural traditions of the Karbi community, the festival honors its heritage while welcoming contemporary innovations. Central to the celebration are revered dance forms such as Chomangkan and Seng Kephang, complemented by emotionally evocative folk songs that echo through generations, promoting a sense of unity and nostalgia.

     How to Reach Diphu for the Karbi Youth Festival?

    • By Air: The nearest airport is Dimapur Airport in Nagaland, approximately 74 kilometers from Diphu. From the airport, taxis and buses are available for the onward journey to Diphu.
    • By Train: Diphu has its own railway station, well-connected to major cities like Guwahati. Trains from Guwahati provide a convenient and picturesque journey through Assam, allowing travelers to enjoy the landscapes en route. We took the Ghy-Jorhat Janshatabdi Train from Guwahati and came back the same evening. It leaves from Guwahati at 6.10 in the morning and from Jorhat it leaves at 2.20 pm the same day.
